Originally from Snellville, Mitchell earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training from Valdosta State University. He then went on to earn his Master of Science in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University while working as graduate assistant athletic trainer at Emory University.

Beginning in 2010, Mitch supported Austin Peay State University’s volleyball, softball and women's basketball programs. In 2012, he moved on to the University of New Orleans, where he worked with its Division I women's basketball team, as well as both the men's and women's tennis teams.

Mitch began with Gwinnett Medical in September 2013, where he is the head athletic trainer at Dacula High School.
