About Gwinnett Extended Care Center

Gwinnett Extended Care Center (GECC) is a sub-acute rehabilitation and extended care facility located on the GMC-Lawrenceville campus. GECC’s purpose is to provide patients with exceptional rehabilitative and nursing care. We provide a comprehensive inpatient program for sub-acute care, designed for someone who has an acute illness (abrupt and usually short onset), injury or increase in illness/disease that still requires nursing care and/or therapy services, but no longer requires daily physician care or acute medical care in a hospital setting.

Our facility is a 89-bed inpatient, sub-acute rehabilitation center that offers various levels of quality, cost-effective care for those it serves. The average length of stay for residents is approximately 3−4 weeks. Our care is delivered by an interdisciplinary team, with services including nursing, rehabilitation services, wound care, social services, nutritional support and therapeutic activities.

At GECC, we strive to provide a comfortable environment conducive to wellness. Patient rooms are designed to create a homelike atmosphere. A sunlight-filled dining room, an aquarium in the lobby, two physical therapy rooms and an interior courtyard that is wheelchair accessible adds to our pleasant surroundings. In addition, our outdoor space has been designated as a Wildlife Sanctuary by the Atlanta Audubon Society.
