Your Stay

We encourage your family and friends to visit. Visiting hours are Monday−Saturday, 4−9 p.m., and Sunday, noon−9 p.m. Caregivers who will be assisting you at home are encouraged to visit and observe therapies anytime, even during non-visiting hours.

What to Bring
During your stay at Glancy Rehabilitation Center, you will be participating in a variety of activities and therapies. We want you to be as comfortable as possible during your daily routine. Patients are expected to wear casual clothes while on the unit and during all therapy sessions. We recommend women wear slacks instead of dresses or skirts. You will also need to bring:

  • Medical insurance cards.
  • Photo identification.
  • List of medications.
  • Family member or friend to accompany you at admissions.
  • Clothing: enough shirts and slacks or sweat suits, underclothing, nightwear, and socks for three to five days. (Nightgowns and pajamas are not appropriate clothing for daytime.) If possible, please mark all items with your name. During the inpatient rehab stay, it is your family’s responsibility to provide you with clean, laundered clothing.
  • Shoes with rubber or non-slip soles, such as sneakers or walking shoes (slippers are not suitable for therapy).
  • Personal toiletries: comb/brush, toothbrush and toothpaste, razor/electric shaver, shampoo, and cosmetics if desired.
  • Adaptive equipment: If you have a walker or wheelchair, please bring it with you.
  • Other items necessary for daily activities, including hearing aids, glasses, dentures, etc.
  • If applicable, bring a copy of your advance directive if you wish it to be honored during your admission.

Glancy Resource Guide
You will receive a copy of the Glancy Resource Guide to enhance your experience in rehabilitation. This guide features a general overview of what to expect, therapies, dietary, nursing, discharge planning and resources you will receive during your treatment—it will also serve as a resource after your stay.

You may wish to bring some personal items with you to Glancy Rehabilitation Center. However, we urge you to keep all unnecessary valuables at home. Glancy cannot assume responsibility for loss or theft of such items as jewelry, money or other personal items.

Each room is equipped with a television set.

What to Expect
During your first day at Glancy Rehabilitation Center, you will attend an orientation session with your case manager. This is a great time to ask the case manager about any financial concerns and discuss discharge-planning needs. The case manager can direct you toward resources available to assist your unique physical and social situations.

Other team members will evaluate your functional needs and begin to establish goals with you. You will have the opportunity to discuss your personal goals and work with the team to develop a treatment plan that leads to a successful discharge. It is very important that you and your family understand the goals of the rehabilitation program as well as your daily routine.

The treatment team meets regularly with the medical director to discuss your treatment and goals. At this time, a projected discharge date will be established with recommendations for continuing therapies and specialized equipment for mobility and function at home. A case manager will follow up with you about the team conference discussion to incorporate your input.

Your day will start early with dressing either before or after breakfast. You will have a break for lunch and then continue your schedule in the afternoon. Rest periods will be scheduled if needed. Upon completion of the day’s activities, you can expect to be tired. In the evenings, you will find time to rest, relax and visit with your family and friends.

You can expect to work hard at Glancy Rehabilitation Center. Your schedule may include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and recreation therapy. You are expected to attend all therapy sessions unless there is a medical reason you are unable to participate. If you have very low endurance, an up/down schedule of being up or resting in bed will be developed to aid in your rehabilitation.

Each day you will receive a menu to complete for the following day. If you have specific swallowing precautions, you will receive therapy during the breakfast and lunch periods. If family members have received the appropriate training, they may assist you during meals. Meal times are 8 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. Your family is welcome to share meal times with you.

Preparing for Your Discharge
Planning for your discharge will begin at your initial meeting with the case manager and will continue until you leave. The team will work with you and your family to develop the best plan to meet your needs after discharge from Glancy Rehabilitation Center.

Adaptive equipment required in your home or for mobility will be ordered from the equipment vendor/supplier selected by you and your family or specified by the preferred provider agreements of your insurance plan. Therapists will make the recommendations for needed equipment with physician certification of medical necessity, and the case manager can order what is medically necessary and approved by you. A physician’s prescription for an item does not guarantee reimbursement by your insurance plan. Criteria for medical need as established by the insurance plan must be met. The case manager will discuss the financial aspects of equipment purchase and rental with you and your family.

Continued therapy services will also be discussed with you and your family. Outpatient services or home health services are choices that will be made based on your needs and the treatment team’s recommendations. Insurance plans specify coverage for outpatient and home health services that may have significant financial impact on your decision-making. The terms of your insurance may designate preferred providers, which means that contractual arrangements are in place between your insurance administrator and a provider of service that offers financial incentive to use that provider. A case manager can assist you with setting up continued therapy after discharge.
