Support Groups at Gwinnett Medical Center

Other Groups

Smoking Cessation – Freshstart Program

Quitting smoking is hard and we want to help. Our smoking cessation programs are designed to provide counseling and support for those interested in quitting smoking.

The Freshstart Program is a smoking cessation program created by the American Cancer Society. The program consists of four classes taught by trained facilitators with the goal of helping participants to stop smoking by educating them in a supportive group environment.

We are happy to offer our smoking cessation program free of charge.

For more information, call the Gwinnett Medical Center Smokers Quit Line at 678-312-2053.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. The primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Knott’s Landing meets from noon to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Another AA group meets on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. For information on meeting times call the church office at 770-476-3776. For more information, visit the Alcoholics Anonymous website.

Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous is an international, community-based association of recovering drug addicts. Started 1947, the NA movement is one of the world’s oldest and largest of its type, with nearly twenty thousand weekly meetings in seventy countries. The core of the Narcotics Anonymous recovery program is a series of personal activities know as the Twelve Steps adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous. These “steps” include admitting there is a problem, seeking help, self-appraisal, confidential self-disclosure, making amends where harm has been done, and working with other drug addicts who want to recover.

A Sunday night group meets 7 p.m. For more information call the church office at 770-476-3776. For other information you may also visit the Narcotics Anonymous website at
