Chaplaincy provides and coordinates quality spiritual care to promote patient care excellence, to foster sensitivity to the diverse needs of Gwinnett Medical Center customers and to integrate spiritual values and health decisions.

We believe that all persons are of worth and that being human has many expressions. Each expression deserves attention. And all health changes, big or small, impact the whole fabric of life.

About our Chaplaincy
The Gwinnett Hospital System Chaplaincy Department maintains five staff chaplains, four clinical pastoral education residents (with a one-year commitment) and shorter term clinical pastoral education students. We offer spiritual services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Chaplaincy is well integrated into the life of the hospital, serving on a variety of committees and acting as consultant on the development of policies and procedures. A large part of the Chaplaincy Department's role is also staff support. In the stressful modern health care environment, we provide a listening ear, counsel and referral, bereavement support and memorial services for associates and families of associates.

In addition to in-house services, the Chaplaincy Department also reaches out to the community as often as possible. We speak at churches and community organizations on grief, end-of-life issues and crisis management. And we are also called upon to assist in critical incident stress debriefings.
