Interpretation and Hearing Impaired Services

Our on-site Spanish Interpreters are an important part of the services we provide to our non-English speaking patients. Our Interpreters also have a dual role as Patient Representative to ensure that your Patient Rights are upheld, and to identify any problems that may arise during your stay.

If you are not receiving the communication assistance you require, please notify a hospital employee immediately and appropriate assistance will be provided. Our goal is to eliminate language as a barrier and ensure that every patient is able to communicate effectively.

Dual handset phones are also provided throughout the medical center with access to over 140 languages and dialects via Language Line Services.

Sign Language Interpreters

To ensure effective communication to our patients who are deaf or hearing impaired Gwinnett Medical Center provides the following services free of charge.

  • Sign Language InterpreterTDD ( telecommunication devices for the deaf)
  • Amplified telephone with “talk back”
  • Jumbo-size keys and Braille Characters
  • Closed Caption Television
  • Pressure sensitive nurse call pad
