Gwinnett Medical Center receives new Lateral Biopsy Arm Accessory

The Gwinnett Breast Center at Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville (GMC) recently announced the addition of a new lateral arm upright biopsy accessory. This accessory will allow the Breast Center to perform stereotactic biopsies more efficiently. GMC-Lawrenceville is one of two hospitals in the state of Georgia to receive this advanced technology.

Proceeds from the 2nd Annual Paint Gwinnett Pink 5K Walk/Run race, held in October 2017, were used to purchase this accessory. Equipment features include:

  • Streamlines procedure steps and shortens patient procedure time.
  • Provides comfort for all patient types, eliminating limited test options.
  • Promotes improved 3D visualization for easier imaging adjustments.

“We are excited to introduce this new equipment, that demonstrates our commitment to providing patient-centered care,” said Karen Kubik, director of imaging at GMC-Lawrenceville. “This accessory will allow us to streamline procedure steps and improve workflow by shortening patient procedure time. It’s these types of advancements in our own community that makes Paint Gwinnett Pink so meaningful.”

Paint Gwinnett Pink stems from a partnership between Paint Georgia Pink and GMC. This is the largest 5K race in Gwinnett County that supports breast cancer. The funds raised are used to purchase patient comfort items during cancer treatment, the latest diagnostic technology and provide access to mammograms. The 3rd Annual Paint Gwinnett Pink will take place on October 27. To join this year’s event please go to www.paintgwinnettpink.org and click “Get Involved”.
