Emergency Departments

While we hope you’ll never need our Emergency Departments or Children’s Emergency Center, they’re open to care for you 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and are staffed by expert doctors and nurses specially trained in emergency care. Gwinnett Medical Center is also accredited as a chest pain center and a stroke center. When you or your family member arrive at a Gwinnett Medical Center Emergency Department, you’ll be met by caring, knowledgeable staff that will quickly assess your health condition and create an effective treatment plan.

Gwinnett Medical Center–Lawrenceville offers a full-service Emergency Department, including a Level II trauma center, the only trauma center in Gwinnett County.

Children’s Emergency Center at Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville
Created to serve children from newborns through age 17, the Children’s Emergency Center provides VIP treatment, including:

  • A separate children’s entrance
  • Child-appropriate waiting areas and patient rooms
  • Technology designed for children
  • Registration and triage separate from the Emergency Department
  • Physician and nursing staff credentialed in pediatric emergency care

All the physicians at our Children’s Emergency Center are board-certified in pediatrics or pediatric emergency medicine.
