Willie Gilbert JR, DO

Willie Gilbert was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After high school, Willie joined the Air Force and was stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany where he worked with C-130s as a logistics technician. While taking a biology course at the Air Force Academy, Willie decided to pursue a career in medicine.  Willie then transferred to the University of Oklahoma where he earned a spot on the President’s Honor Roll while finishing his Bachelor of Science degree in biology.  Willie attended Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and was selected as a member of Sigma Sigma Phi Osteopathic Honors Society by earning a spot on the Dean’s Honor Roll.  Willie is passionate about preventative medicine and working with the underserved, which drew him to the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Gwinnett Medical Center. He plans to stay in Georgia and work with the underserved after residency.  In his free time, he loves to spend time with family and friends. He also enjoys volunteering and mentoring to help increase the pipeline of underrepresented minorities applying to medical schools.
