Rehman Ahmad, DO

Medical School: Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine - PA Campus

Rehman B. Ahmad was born in New York and raised in New Jersey. Growing up, he had visited his aunt and uncle down in Georgia for a number of summers until work and/or school started conflicting with the trips. During this time, he developed a great interest in cardiology, exercise, preventive medicine and giving back to the community through volunteer work. He attended Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and earned his Bachelors of Science with a major in Exercise Science and Minor in Biological Science. From there, he attended graduate school and earned his Master of Biomedical Science from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Rehman worked during his time at Rutgers and Rowan for a local hospital as a physical therapy aide and registrar; he also worked as a baseball umpire for a number of years. At this point, his life, work, and educational experiences are what drove him to pursue a degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Pennsylvania Campus.

Rehman had spent four years in the city of Philadelphia for medical school. Rehman’s long-term career goals at the time included internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology. During medical school, the intensive care unit piqued his interest and he is now also interested in pulmonary critical care and critical care fellowships. He is also interested in academic medicine as a clinical professor working with medical students. Rehman had always said to his aunt and uncle in Georgia that he would do a rotation in Georgia here since PCOM-GA was close to them, but that rotation never came to pass due to scheduling on his end. When match day came, he called his aunt and uncle second to his parents to let them know he’d be in town for 3 years for his residency; you could say life came full circle in this case.

When Rehman is not focused with academics and medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He enjoys staying active, barbecuing during the summer, reading, attending sporting events and concerts (mainly baseball games), video games and cars. Though his alliances to his sports teams forbade him from rooting for Philadelphia teams, the Phillies and Eagles did eventually grow on him. He has attended at least one game from each of the major sports teams there. He believes his new home sports teams will grow on him like they did in Philadelphia and is looking forward to attending some Braves games; however, the New York Yankees will always be his number one.
