Neonatal Physicians and Neonatal Nurse Practitioners

Dedicated to healing, supporting you, and your sick little one.

Some newborns need a little extra care. This is why our staff includes several of the region’s most experienced and highly trained neonatal physicians and neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs).

Our neonatal physicians and NNPs specialize in caring for newborns with various health conditions, such as respiratory distress or low birth weight. They consult with neonatologists to determine the best course of treatment for newborns.

Newborns with health issues may need care immediately, so NNPs must have the ability to think and act quickly. Because they often relay important information to parents, they must be good communicators.

Our NNPs attend all high-risk deliveries and are on campus 24 hours a day. Each of our NNPs is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN), a registered professional nurse licensed in Georgia who is recognized by the board of nursing as having met the requirements to engage in advanced nursing practice and holds a master’s degree or other graduate degree from an approved nursing education program and national board certification in neonatal intensive care.
