Wound Treatment Center
The Wound Treatment Center is an outpatient program dedicated to the treatment of both acute and chronic non-healing wounds. Our specialized approach to wound management integrates current assessment, treatment, technology and education to develop a plan of care that is individualized to each patient’s needs.
Services
Therapies and treatments are based on data from many researchers specializing in the care of wounds. Since a variety of factors may prevent wounds from healing, the healthcare specialists at the Wound Treatment Center look at the "total picture" of wound care from treatment to reoccurrence prevention. In addition, our Center is actively involved in research studies for chronic wounds, providing the latest innovations in wound care to our patients.
The types of wounds commonly evaluated include:
- Diabetic ulcers
- Pressure ulcers
- Venous stasis ulcers
- Traumatic wounds
- Infected or non-healing surgical wounds
- Small burns
Team Members
The facility utilizes a team approach to treatment. Team members include a physician, Certified Wound/Ostomy/Continence nurses and a physical therapist certified in wound care. Gregory Schlegel, MD, FACS, CWS, has been the medical director of the facility since it opened in 1998.
