Need information and assistance with breastfeeding? We have a variety of ways to help you.

 

 

BEFORE YOU HAVE YOUR BABY:

 

Prenatal breastfeeding classes 678-442-5000

A professional lacatation consultant teaches an overview of how to get started nursing your baby. The class is called Breastfeeding: Sweet and Simple. You will complete our class in one evening. In about one and half to two hours you will be on your way with some tips and tricks to get started breastfeeding quickly and easily.  Call to register for our informative and lighthearted look at breastfeeding.

                     

 

WHILE YOU ARE IN THE HOSPITAL:

 

Trained nursing staff

Our trained nursing staff is available for information and assistance with breastfeeding while you are in the hospital. Lactation consultants are available for those occasional times when breastfeeding does not go as expected. Your nurse will know how to special order a consultation to meet your need for extra assistance. 

 

In Hospital Consultations

If breastfeeding is not progressing after the initial hours of normal baby sleepiness, your nurse or healthcare provider may order an inpatient lactation consultation. A professional lactation consultant will contact you and set up an individual feeding plan including follow-up for you and your baby.

 

 

AFTER YOU GO HOME WITH YOUR BABY:

When you get home you may have questions about medications, breast pumps, or what to do if breastfeeding is not going as expected. Call our automated Breastfeeding Helpline, leave a message and a lactation consultant will return your call.  

 

Breastfeeding Support Group 678-312-4743

Our Breastfeeding Support Group has blossomed!  We are able to offer hands on help for many common breastfeeding concerns during group time. If you have sore nipples, engorgement, difficult latch-on or other breastfeeding questions you are welcome to come share your concerns. You can weigh your baby before and after breastfeeding on our digital scale.
