Perinatal Education
Gwinnett Women's Pavilion offers many unique educational programs for expectant mothers. Our classes are designed to educate and support mothers and couples in making their own best choices for pregnancy, birth and parenting. Register early for these classes by calling HealthLine at 678-442-5000 or registering online as soon as you know you are expecting.
Pregnancy & Childbirth Preparation
Pickles & Ice Cream - Early Pregnancy
A single-session class (2 1/2 hour) for parents in the first trimester (8 to 16 weeks of pregnancy). Topics include fetal development, prenatal care, healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition, current body changes, etc.

Showing & Glowing - Mid-Pregnancy
A three-session class (2 1/2 hour) taken during the second trimester (20th to 28th weeks of pregnancy). Topics include dispelling the myths of pregnancy and childbirth, sexuality in pregnancy, common discomforts, prenatal fitness, signs and symptoms of premature labor, introduction of relaxation techniques used during labor, etc.
Fee: $95 (includes Ready & Able)
Ready & Able - Late Pregnancy Childbirth Preparation
A four-session class (2 1/2 hours) taken during the third trimester (30th to 38th week of pregnancy). A tour of Gwinnett Women's Pavilion is included. Topics include signs of labor, influences on the length of labor, medications, self-help comfort techniques, etc.
Fee: Included in the cost for Showing & Glowing
Alternative Classes
Short & Sweet Childbirth Preparation
A condensed series of four 3-hour classes taken during the third trimester for childbirth preparation. Topics include signs of labor, labor management, comfort techniques, medications, breathing and relaxation.
Fee: $95 (This class is also offered at Gwinnett Medical Center - Duluth)
Short & Sweet Weekend
A two-day weekend class offering 12 hours of instruction covering signs of labor, labor management, comfort techniques, medications, breathing and relaxation.
Fee: $95
Sweet Repeats
A four to six-hour childbirth refresher course designed for parents who have previously completed childbirth preparation classes and experienced birth. The course reviews the stages of labor, birth procedures, relaxation and breathing techniques.
Fee: $50
Special Delivery - Cesarean Childbirth
A three hour class designed to prepare the expecting couple for birth by Cesarean. Emphasis is placed on the unique experience of this type of delivery including the emotional aspects, preparation for the procedure and recovery. A relaxation session is included.
Fee: $40
Young Parents - Childbirth 101
This three-class series is designed specifically for expectant moms ages 13 to 19. It covers preparation for labor, childbirth, early newborn care and postpartum care for moms. Parenting skills are emphasized.
Fee: Negotiable and is covered by Medicaid

Bumps, Bruises & Babies
Learn the basics of infant/child safety and take the American Heart Association's course on pediatric CPR and choking management.
Fee: $30/person or $50/couple
Pattycakes & Lullabies
Expectant parents are provided information and guidance on caring for their newborns. Topics include basic infant care, choosing a pediatrician and infant development.
Fee: $40
Child Car Seat Safety - Safe & Secure
Certified safety technicians will instruct you on everything you need to keep your most precious cargo safe and secure in your vehicle. Participants are scheduled for a car seat safety check.
Fee: $20 person/couple
Tours
Free evening tours are conducted weekly on Tuesdays at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. Tours are also offered at 10:00 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month. Tours in spanish are offered every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. Registration is required. Tours fill quickly; please call 678-442-5000 early to reserve your space.
Sibling Preparation
Becoming a big brother or sister is a very special event. We offer fun, educational and interactive programs to help your children welcome the new baby.
Little Helping Hands
A single-session class (1 1/2 hours) to prepare children ages 3 to 4. A tour is included. Fee: $20
Big Helping Hands
A single-session class (1 1/2 hours) to prepare children ages 5 to 10. A tour is included.
