Partial Hospitalization Program

Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

(Ages 18+)

The Adult Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a treatment option available for people 18 years or older who have been diagnosed with a psychiatric condition and/or an addiction. This program was developed to address the needs of patients whose symptoms do not require the intensity of a 24-hour inpatient program, but still need more support than provided by individual outpatient therapy.

All individuals are evaluated prior to starting programs to identify the appropriate level of care for promoting recovery.

With the exception of assessments and doctor’s visits, the daily schedule consists of four different groups. Patients are encouraged to talk about their symptoms, stressors, support systems and concerns, and to participate in activities to increase understanding and insight. Therapists help identify possible solutions, provide education about diagnoses and work with patients to strengthen healthy coping skills.

Groups start at 9 a.m. and end at 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Lunch is provided in the SummitRidge cafeteria.

Family members and other support persons are urged to participate in the family group held each week – it is also attended by patients. This group addresses questions about diagnoses, how to improve communication and how to work more effectively to enhance recovery.

Patients with a diagnosis of addiction are urged to go to daily 12-step meetings in addition to the regular PHP groups. It is important to begin developing the connection with the recovering community before completing PHP.

Patients attend the program for an average of two weeks, or as long as their physician feels it is necessary and helpful.

The SummitRidge Patient Access and Utilization Management staff members are available to help with billing and insurance issues.

Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

(Ages 13-17)

Our services provide treatment for issues such as depression, alcohol and drug abuse. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, anxiety and behavioral problems are also addressed.

Many of behaviors may be seen as "normal" for teens. However, when multiple behaviors are noticeable, it may indicate that the teenager has a serious problem that can respond to treatment. Some teens have problems with depression/bipolar disorder AND alcohol and drugs.

Our treatment team includes nurses, psychiatrists, family therapists, mental health techs, education therapists, as well as activity therapists. Collectively the team has over two hundred years of experience working with teens and are committed to making a difference in the lives of the adolescents they serve.

The program starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. Lunch is provided in the SummitRidge cafeteria.
