Nurse Extern Program

The Nurse Extern Program offers nursing students the opportunity to gain valuable clinical knowledge and skills through temporary summer employment. The program supports the student nurse's professional development by providing:

• A thorough orientation.
• An interactive classroom experience.
• A preceptor who works closely with the nurse extern in a supportive environment.
• Additional support from the program coordinator.

The 2013 Nurse Extern Program online application will be available to apply to starting November 1, 2012.

To be eligible, applicants must be graduating by either December, 2013 or May, 2014 and have a 3.0 GPA.

How to apply to the position:

1. Visit www.gwinnettmedicalcenter.jobs/. Once on the site, click on Nursing; and then Nurse Extern Program. Click on: “Search Jobs”.
2. To search for the job position: at the top enter “Extern” as the keyword and click on search at the bottom of the page. Note: this is a generic position. Applicants are chosen and placed into areas per availability. See below for a listing of areas our Externs may be placed in.*
3. Then continue by clicking on the Extern position and apply.

  Oncology, Medical, Surgical, Cardiac, Orthopedic/Surgical Specialties, Emergency Services, Neuroscience and Spine, ICU, Labor & Delivery, Mother/Infant, NICU, High Risk Pregnancy Unit, Surgical Services, and Nursing Imaging.
• GMC (Facility in Duluth):
  Medical/Telemetry, Surgical/Ortho, Emergency Services, ICU, and Surgical Services – Procedural Nursing/IR and Endoscopy.
• Glancy Rehab Center
