Before Your Stay

Before Surgery
Make sure you don’t eat or drink after midnight before your surgery. Your stomach must be empty to prevent vomiting.

Nothing by mouth means no mints/candy/gum and nothing to drink or eat. If you eat or drink, your surgery may be postponed or canceled.

Valuables
Please do not bring large sums of money, jewelry or other valuables. You may want to bring a small amount of cash for items from our gift shop such as newspapers or magazines. We cannot assume responsibility for any personal possessions.

Also, you may wear your rings, but no necklaces.

Medications
Be sure you bring a list of the medications you are currently taking and the dosages with you. You should not, however, bring any prescription or non-prescription medications unless your attending physician specifically asks that you do so.

For further questions about your medications, consult your primary care physician.

Smoking
Gwinnett Medical Center is a smoke-free campus. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Televisions and Telephones
Each of our rooms is furnished with a flat-screen television and a bedside telephone. The phone is only for incoming calls and calls within Gwinnett County.

ATMs
There is an ATM located on the first floor of either of our main campuses. They are operational 24 hours a day for your convenience.

Miscellaneous
If you have any other questions to ask before your arrival, please feel free to call 678-312-1000.
