Pain Management

Gwinnett Medical Center’s Pain Management Center is committed to maximizing comfort and minimizing chronic pain. We begin by identifying an individual’s cause of pain, documenting its level as well as anxiety and fatigue caused by this pain. We then work with each patient to develop an individualized pain treatment plan.

Program goals include:

  • Determine the cause of your pain as best we can and explain it to you.
  • Assess your surgical options.
  • Assess your levels of pain, depression, anxiety, fatigue and function (work, housework, hobbies, family relationships, friend relationships and community relationships).
  • Discuss and decide on a treatment plan to address symptom management and increased function using medication, procedures, a home exercise program, physical therapy, psychological support and techniques, proper nutrition and exercise, and alternative therapies.
  • Discuss whether your condition will get completely better with treatment or if you will always have pain.
  • Set goals for pain levels and function.
