Joint Classes

If you are planning total joint replacement surgery, we strongly encourage you and your family to attend a free joint class prior to surgery. Research has shown that attending this type of class helps patients feel more confident and comfortable about their surgery, resulting in better outcomes.

During your joint class, a team of experts from different specialties will explain each step in the total joint replacement process. You will learn how the surgery is performed and what to expect before, during and after the surgery. Topics include:

• Equipment used during your hospital stay and at home
• Physical limitations and precautions after surgery
• Helpful exercises during rehabilitation
• Planning a safe return home
• Family support classes
