The Center for Surgical Weight Management at GMC–Duluth Celebrates First Anniversary
Bariatric Center marks milestone with health fair and fashion show
Lawrenceville, Ga. (March 24, 2011)–The Center for Surgical Weight Management (CSWM) at GMC–Duluth marks its one-year anniversary tomorrow, March 25. Offering a variety of bariatric surgical options for patients interested in weight loss, CSWM has treated more than 60 patients since opening its doors last March.
CSWM’s first patient, Yvonne Wallace, exemplifies the positive transformation that comes with bariatric surgery. To date, Yvonne has shed more than 90 pounds, gaining new confidence and a new outlook on life.
“Thanks to the Center for Surgical Weight Management at GMC–Duluth, I am a much healthier, happier individual,” said Yvonne Wallace, minister and social worker from Lilburn. “I’m amazed with my weight loss success, but more importantly, I am overjoyed with my life-style change towards becoming a healthier me.”
In celebration of its one-year anniversary, CSWM is hosting a Weight Loss Surgery Health Fair featuring guest speaker Khaliah Ali. The event will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2011, from 9 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at the Gwinnett Convention Center at Gwinnett Center. The event is FREE and open to individuals considering weight loss surgery and interested in learning about CSWM’s comprehensive surgical weight loss program.
At the event, interested individuals will be able to:
Hear from guest speaker Khaliah Ali, LAP-BAND® weight loss surgery patient and daughter of legendary heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, on her life-long struggle with obesity
Participate in the Health Fair, featuring risk assessments, nutritional information and physical fitness instructions
Attend a Fashion Show highlighting the success and transformation of current patients
Learn about the three surgical weight loss procedures offered at CSWM during a one-hour Informational Seminar hosted by Robert Richard, MD, medical director of CSWM
Registered attendees will be entered into a raffle to win one of several prizes, including a Wii console with Wii Fit, gym memberships, gift certificates for yoga, Pilates, cardio dance mix, nutritional counseling and personal training, a Belk gift basket and a Smoothie King gift card
