Gwinnett Medical Center First to Bring New Siemens Technology to Community: MAGNETOM Skyra 3T MRI to enhance patient experience

02.15.2011

Lawrenceville, Ga.—Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) is pleased to announce the installation of a MAGNETOM Skyra 3T MRI machine, the first in the county, at the GMC Imaging Center located on the Lawrenceville Campus.

Siemens MAGNETOM Skyra 3T MRI boasts a variety of patient benefits, including the ability to deliver 2-15 times the magnetic field of original MRI machines and an increased 70-cm open bore that provides added comfort for patients. The 173-cm Siemens design also allows a patient’s head to remain outside the magnet, reducing many patients’ fear and anxiety of being in an enclosed space.

“Gwinnett Medical Center is pleased to offer this advanced technology to our patients,” said Karen Kubik, Director, Imaging Services for Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville. “The addition of the Skyra 3T MRI underscores our continued commitment and strides to integrate cutting-edge technologies in our hospital system.”

This installation is the latest in GMC’s ongoing mission to bring innovative care and resources to Gwinnett.
