Injury Prevention and Coaching Clinic to feature Tom Glavine and Brian Snitker


Lawrenceville, Ga. (December 15, 2010)–Gwinnett Medical Center will offer a one-day clinic on injury prevention in youth baseball on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, from 8:15 a.m.–3 p.m. at Coolray Field. Presenters include T. Scott Maughon, MD, chairman of the Gwinnett Medical Center Sports Medicine Program; Joseph Chandler, MD, director of medical services emeritus, Atlanta Braves; Lloyd Van Pamelen, PT, CSCS, Gwinnett SportsRehab and Atlanta Braves; Brian Snitker, third base coach, Atlanta Braves; and Tom Glavine, former professional pitcher, Atlanta Braves.

Presentations will cover preventing injuries in pitching, in-season maintenance for the throwing arm, getting the most out of your players, preseason conditioning and identifying the early signs of throwing injuries. Although the clinic is designed for parents and coaches, youth baseball players, ages 16 and up, are welcome to attend.

The $30 event fee includes breakfast, lunch and presentation handouts. A reduced rate of $25 per person is available for groups of five or more. Registration is required by Jan. 7, 2011. The first 50 people to register will receive a pair of tickets to a 2011 Gwinnett Braves game and several baseball raffle prizes will be given away.
