Gwinnett Medical Center Celebrates Nurses Week: National Nurses Week May 6-12, 2010
Lawrenceville, Ga. – Each May, Gwinnett Medical Center takes time to recognize the nurses who provide high-quality patient care and improve our health care system. Nurses serve as an indispensable component in offering quality care of hospitalized patients. The need for registered nurses will rise with advances in life-sustaining technology and the explosive growth of health care services. For these reasons, Gwinnett Medical Center celebrates the tireless dedication of nurses who care for us all.
Last month, each nursing unit requested nominations from staff for a unit Nurse of the Year. Directors then made division selections with their managers. After the Division winner was selected, a committee of six staff from various areas of GMC rated the nominees and came to a unanimous decision on both winners.
“This dedication is truly an inspiration to me, as well as the rest of the 4,300 employees across our campuses. Our nurses are front and center in everything we do at GMC. They are the backbone of who we are. With competent hands and compassionate hearts they reliably care for our patients every day, 24/7,” said Carol Danielson, RN, chief nursing officer at GMC.
