Gwinnett Medical Center Earns a Spot on 2010 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America

Lawrenceville, Ga.—Gwinnett Medical Center (GMC) made this year’s InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology.

“GMC has a goal to bring technical innovation to the Emergency Department and many other areas of our hospitals," says Ed Brown, senior vice president & chief information officer. "We believe that technology innovation is a key strategy in helping us achieve improvements in patient safety, quality and efficiency, which has been the direction for our hospital system for more than five years and is now incorporated in national healthcare reform."

To ensure continuity of care, GMC's Information Services department developed a program that provides reports to primary care physicians for patients that have visited the Emergency Department.
