Gwinnett Medical Center and Partnership Gwinnett to Host Sports Medicine Event


Lawrenceville, Ga.—Gwinnett Medical Center and Partnership Gwinnett, the community and economic development initiative led by the Gwinnett Chamber, will host the third installment of their quarterly health council series on Thursday, August 5, 7:30–9 a.m., at Georgia Gwinnett College. The breakfast event, focused on Transforming Sports Medicine, is open to the public and will address the various services and programs offered by Gwinnett Medical Center’s sports medicine team of orthopedic surgeons, certified athletic trainers, imaging specialists, surgical and rehabilitation specialists.

“Healthcare and the life sciences are key industry focuses for our economic development efforts through Partnership Gwinnett,” said Nick Masino, VP of Economic Development and Partnership Gwinnett at the Gwinnett Chamber. “Collaborating with Gwinnett Medical Center to deliver solid programs and create a strong foundation and network of existing industry in this area is imperative and we’re thrilled to be working together.”

The event includes keynote speaker T. Scott Maughon, MD, chair of Gwinnett Medical Center’s sports medicine committee and a panel of physicians from the hospital’s sports medicine program, including Mark C. Cullen, MD, Gary A. Levengood, MD, and Yvonne E. Satterwhite, MD.

The panel will focus on the following topics:

  • Heat Illness
  • Concussions
  • Sprains, Strains and Fractures
