Gwinnett Extended Care Center Named a Top Nursing Home in U.S.


U.S. News & World Reportrecently recognized Gwinnett Extended Care Center (GECC) of Gwinnett Medical Center as one of the top nursing homes in the country for overall excellence in both long and short-stay patient care. GECC is located at Gwinnett Medical Center-Lawrenceville and includes 89 long-term care beds.

In order to create the Best Nursing Homes list, U.S. News & World Report referenced data from Nursing Home Compare, run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The data emphasizes the top nursing homes in each state and nearly 100 major metropolitan areas.

GECC received an overall 5 star rating in measures for quality control, nurse staffing and health inspections, ratings that far surpassed both state and national averages.U.S. News & World Report awarded the best nursing home designation to facilities that earned an overall rating of five stars, the federal agency's highest ranking.

Under the direction of Administrator Tamey Stith, GECC was one of only 26 nursing homes to receive the highest overall rating of five stars out of the 125 facilities recognized for quality in its respective classification in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
