GMC’s Extended Care Leader Nationally Recognized for Quality

07.17.2013

The American College of Health Care Administrators (ACHCA) honored Tamey Stith, administrator of Gwinnett Medical Center’s Extended Care Center in Lawrenceville, Ga., with the 2013 ACHCA Facility Leadership Award.

ACHCA firmly believes facility excellence is a reflection of leadership excellence. Stith’s leadership award was celebrated along with other winners during the awards luncheon at ACHCA’s 47th Annual Convocation and Exposition in Orlando, Fl. in April.

“Our staff is committed to providing the best care possible to patients in order to create a positive experience for both patients and their families,” said Phil Wolfe, President and CEO of Gwinnett Medical Center. “Facilitating a strong focus on family involvement for each patient, whether he or she needs short- or long-term care is the core of the extended care center’s employee values.”

The areas of excellence qualifying facilities must exhibit include three years of performance on the health survey, fire (life safety) survey, complaint surveys and improvement in the last two quarters in designated quality measures.

Stith’s excellent leadership has provided long-term health care services that are desired, meaningful, successful and efficient which are qualities that the ACHCA recognizes as superior.

The Gwinnett Extended Care Center bridges the gap between levels of care for patients who are well enough to leave the hospital, but not yet able to return home. The facility provides both sub-acute, short-stay services and intermediate, extended care.
