The Gwinnett Medical Center Medical Library provides an extensive collection of medical resources and a wide range of library services to our physicians, health care professionals, hospital associates and community members.
Our collection includes both traditional resources such as books, journals, DVDs, video/audiotapes, CDs and reference materials, as well as virtual resources, including numerous user-friendly electronic databases providing links to a large collection of full-text journals and electronic books.
The Medical Library is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For general questions, please call 678-312-4337 during normal business hours.
Physician identification cards may also be used to access the library at any hour. Non-physician, hospital associates may call Public Safety for after-hours access.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality medical information services and resources to support excellence in patient care, clinical and management decision-making, research, community wellness and the educational needs of our customers.
Circulation—Many books and audiovisual materials may be checked out for a three-week period to physicians and hospital associates.
Reference—Literature searches may be performed by a professional medical librarian.
Library assistance is also available in:
- Using resources and equipment
- Citation verification
- Answering complex reference questions
Journal articles and books not available in our Medical Library may be borrowed from other libraries free of charge for physicians and hospital associates. The requested resources must be related patient care.
Training—One-on-one training available on all library databases.
Journals—A ten-year print collection of the leading medical, nursing and allied health journals and access to more than 19,000 electronic journals, and 400 full-text electronic medical reference books.
Books—We have a core collection of over 1,900 hard copy books:
- Medical, nursing and allied health books
- Professional and business books
- More than 400 full-text electronic medical books
- Computer software training manuals
- Hospital course training books (BLS, ACLS, PALS)
We also have DVDs/video/audiotapes/CDs, newspaper and leisure magazines available.
Many of GMC's online electronic databases are available for use in the library only. Our licensing agreements do not allow us to offer remote access to the public, but the public may use these resources if they come into the library.
