Congregational Health Ministry combines the personal and material resources of the hospital, parish nurses, congregations and the community. Together, these groups work to enhance wellness for the people of Gwinnett County and beyond.

Our parish nurses:

  • Enhance the health of members by leading them toward physical, social, emotional and spiritual wholeness.
  • Serve as members of the church ministerial team.
  • Combine nursing and knowledge of theological concepts to facilitate healing and wholeness.
  • Support church ministers in situations that require knowledge of healthcare and the healthcare system.
  • Lead and mentor volunteers to serve as members of the Health Ministry team.

The key components of a Congregational Health Ministry include:

  • Personal health counseling and education
  • Volunteerism
  • Referrals to community resources
  • Hospital and home visits
  • Support groups

As communities of faith, congregations serve as agencies for health and healing in all areas of life. Healing resources include worship, services for emotional and spiritual healing, prayer, sacraments, education, fellowship and service.
