Gwinnett Medical Center Auxiliary
What is the Auxiliary?
The Gwinnett Medical Center Auxiliary is the fund raising arm of our volunteer force. The Auxiliary has donated over $1 million to GMC since its inception in 1984 donating to a wide variety of areas throughout the hospital including the GMC Foundation's TIME MATTERS in the fight against Breast Cancer Campaign and Project PATH.
In 2007 - 2008, the Auxiliary donated funds to several areas throughout the hospital, including:
- $50,000 to GMC Foundation's Project Path's North Tower Campaign (part of a three-year $150,000 pledge)
- Maintenance of the Salt Walter Aquarium at Gwinnett Extended Care
- Sponsor of the Annual Ms. GECC Pageant
- Sponsor of Monthly Birthday Parties at Gwinnett Extended Care Facility
- $500 Scholarship for Student Volunteer for National Leadership Forum
- Cynthia Chandler, Director of Volunteer Services presents a check from the Auxiliary for $50,000 to Phil Wolfe, President & CEO, Gwinnett Medical Center for the GMC Foundation's Project PATH.
The Auxiliary raises funds through special sales such as books, art, jewelry, uniforms, and linens. They also raise a majority of their funds through the gift shops in Duluth and Lawrenceville.
As a member of the Auxiliary, you have the opportunity to join a variety of committees including:
- Miss GECC Pageant - annual pageant sponsored by the Auxiliary for resident of our nursing home facility.
- Stockings - each holiday season, babies born to families at the Women's Pavilion have the opportunity to go home in a decorated holiday stocking.
- Special sales - assisting with vendor sales at check-out
- Breakfast with Santa - during the holiday season, children of associates are treated to refreshments and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus.
- GECC Birthday Parties - each month, the Auxiliary sponsors a birthday party at our nursing home facility for the residents who are celebrating a birthday that month.
- GECC Cart - each month, members of the Auxiliary provide a cart stocked with merchandise for residents of the Auxiliary to purchase trinkets, cards, and toiletry items at a very discounted price.
Other projects include:
Afghans/lap blankets - lovingly made for residents of Gwinnett Extended Care facility.
Teddy Bears & Bunny Rabbits - handmade stuffed bears and rabbits for patients in the ER at Duluth.
